LAS VEGAS (AP) — A jury in Las Vegas decided a 62-year-old man should be put to death for having a man kill his sixth wife, and then killing the man.
The death penalty verdict delivered Wednesday against Thomas Randolph came days after the same jury found Randolph guilty of murder and conspiracy in the May 2008 slayings of Sharon Causse and Michael James Miller.
His sentence will be automatically appealed.
Randolph told police he shot a masked man five times after finding his wife dead at their home.
The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that prosecutors pointed to similarities between the two killings and the death 22 years earlier of Randolph's second wife.
They said Randolph collected $500,000 in insurance money after the 1986 death of Becky Gault in Utah, and stood to gain $360,000 in insurance money from Causse's death.
