SALT LAKE CITY — Amended charges and a new arrest warrant have been issued in the nearly 3-year-old case of a couple accused of sexually assaulting a teenage boy after providing him with drugs and alcohol.
Gildas Datsas Tsaty, 40, was originally charged in August of 2014 with aggravated sexual assault, a first-degree felony.
On May 1, an amended information was filed in 3rd District Court charging aggravated sexual assault, a first-degree felony, in addition to forcible sodomy, a first-degree felony; and eight counts of obstruction of justice, a second-degree felony.
On Aug. 6, 2014, a 17-year-old boy told police he went to a residence at 350 E. 700 South where "there was a lot of alcohol, marijuana and food." Tsaty and Matthew "Ali" Levi Laue, 28, encouraged the boy and another teen to drink alcohol, according to charging documents.
Tsaty then allegedly told the 17-year-old to have sex with Laue. When the boy refused, police say Laue forced him at gunpoint to perform a sex act. When Laue left, Tsaty raped the boy, the charges state.
Laue was convicted of aggravated assault in 2015, according to court records, and has since successfully completed probation.
The case against Tsaty has been ongoing since 2014 and has had jury trials scheduled and canceled multiple times, according to court records. A no bail warrant was issued for his arrest after the amended charges were filed.
