PROVO — A Roosevelt man accused of arranging to meet who he thought was a 13-year-old girl for the purpose of having sex is due back in court Wednesday.
Ren Ray Labrum, 29, was charged in October in 4th District Court with enticing a minor using the internet, a second-degree felony.
Last July, Labrum met a person online who he thought was a 13-year-old girl but really was an undercover detective with the Utah Valley Special Victims Task Force, according to charging documents.
"(Labrum) described the sex acts he wanted to engage in with the (undercover) persona of a 13-year-old girl," charges state.
He arranged to meet the girl on Oct. 6, 2016, at a park in Provo, according to the charges.
"(Labrum) made it very clear in the chats that he was planning on picking up the 13-year-old girl and having sex with her," charges state.
When Labrum arrived at the park, he was arrested.
Labrum waived his preliminary hearing in April. An arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday morning.
