AMERICAN FORK, Utah (AP) -- A bondsman bailed himself out of jail after being charged with roughing up a customer's family.
Pablo Alcalde, 60, of West Jordan, was trying to track down an Orem man who skipped a court date.
Police say Alcalde forced himself into two homes Sept. 4 and waged a campaign of terror on the bail jumper's wife and an in-law.
He never did find the man who jumped bail on a domestic violence charge.
The bondsman faces kidnapping, burglary, assault and theft charges.
Utah County jail records say Alcalde was booked and released Sept. 16 on cash-only, $200,000 bail.
Alcalde, the owner of Real Bail Bonds, allegedly forced his way into homes in American Fork and Orem, handcuffed the bail jumper's wife and an in-law and took them on a drive looking for the man, said detectives. They described the woman as "frightened to the point of becoming physically ill."
Both were eventually released on a street corner in American Fork.
Alcalde is allowed to bring a bail jumper in by force but exceeded his authority in harassing the relatives, police say.
