SALT LAKE CITY — As we count down the days until Christmas, we also continue to countdown Utah’s favorite Christmas songs.
After three weeks, starting with 32 Christmas favorites, Utahns have spoken and have named their favorite Christmas song.
There were some tough choices in the final four.
The nominees were, in no particular order:
Nat King Cole — “The Christmas Song”
Bing Crosby — “White Christmas”
Josh Groban — “O Holy Night”
Frank Sinatra — “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”
And the winner is…
Josh Groban — "O Holy Night"
The final round breakdown of the votes went as follows (in percentage):
- Josh Groban — "O Holy Night": 37%
- Bing Crosby — “White Christmas”: 29%
- Nat King Cole — “The Christmas Song”: 17%
- Frank Sinatra — “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”: 17%
Released in 2002, Josh Groban’s rendition of “O Holy Night” went to No. 1 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart. Despite many artists from various genres who’ve recorded versions of “O Holy Night”, Groban’s version has easily become the most popular version to listen to since its release nearly 15 years ago.
This entire Christmas song tournament was completely subjective and fun. We think all 32 songs that were a part of the tournament are great. We thank all of you who voted.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
