SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Utah's medical examiner is having a hard time filling a vacancy for a forensic pathologist to conduct autopsies.
Todd Grey, the state's top forensic pathologist, says the state isn't offering enough money to bring in qualified applicants to join a team of four that conducts about 2,000 autopsies a year.
The job pays up to $174,000 a year, but Grey says more money is necessary.
He says applicants can make more money in the medical field that the state is willing to pay.
The Legislature sets the medical examiner's budget. It convenes in January.
