MOUNT PLEASANT — The family of a man whose body was found in a shallow grave in Utah County last week doesn't want the pictures of that grave to be the last thing people remember him by.
Wesley Nay's body was found in a mountain grave near the Utah-Sanpete county line on Oct 20. He was 22 and had been missing for about a month.
His sister, Ashley Nay, shared memories of Wesley with KSL TV Friday, showing off some of the artwork and crafts he had made for her, as well as photos of happier times.
"It's hard to believe something like this would happen," she said.
In Mount Pleasant, where everyone knows everyone, it seemed everyone knew Wesley.
"He could just light up the room," said Rena Orton, Wesley's sixth-grade teacher said. "He could look at you and just melt your heart."
"(He was) kind to others, generous, hard working," his third-grade teacher, Hollee Anderson, remembered.
Ashley Nay said her family didn't know what kind of trouble Wesley might have gotten into, nor what kind of friends he had. No arrests had been made Friday, and detectives were also trying to determine a motive for the homicide.
Instead of focusing on how he died, though, Wesley's family is remembering the good times — like how he loved being outside, enjoyed making things for people, and that one time, he taught his sister how to ride a bike.
