SALT LAKE CITY — Arguably the two most powerful companies in gaming — Sony and Microsoft — have both recently announced the launching of new consoles that will take gaming to new levels.
Sony Interactive Entertainment announced two new PlayStation video game consoles, the PlayStation4 Pro and a slimmer PlayStation4.
The PS4 Pro will launch on Nov. 10 for $399 and the slimmer PS4 will launch on Sept. 15 for $299.
The PS4 Pro will provide gamers with more detailed graphics, visual enhancements for HDTV users and will feature streaming services, including YouTube and Netflix, according to KEF Media.
The new, slimmer PS4 will give gamers an additional choice for how they wish to enjoy PlayStation content, according to KEF Media.
Xbox, owned by Microsoft, has also released a new gaming console, the Xbox One S, starting at $299.
The new Xbox console is 40 percent smaller than the company’s previous model, the Xbox One, and contains internal power supply and 2TB of internal storage, according to Xbox.
Xbox One S also offers streaming content on Netflix, Amazon Video and Ultra HD Blu-ray movies with high-dynamic range.
An upgraded version of this model of the Xbox, currently titled Project Scorpio, was announced in June 2016 and will be released during the holiday season of 2017, according to Xbox.
Project Scorpio has been called “the most powerful console ever” by the Microsoft company.
