LOGAN, Utah (AP) — Two Cache County Republican officials say they're quitting their positions as a protest of presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
Andy Rasmussen and Jonathan Choate, who served on the Cache County Republican Party's executive committee and chairmen of two districts, resigned this week.
Rasmussen and Choate wrote in their resignation letter that they believe Trump is a danger to the party and his values clash with those of Republicans.
Choate told The Herald Journal that he hopes to stay involved in conservative politics in Cache County despite leaving his party position.
Cache County Republican Party Chairman Boyd Pugmire says he respects the decisions to leave and does not believe the resignations show widespread discontent within the county party.
