(KSL News) A discus thrower from Utah, competing for Sweden, had a disappointing day inside the Bird's Nest.
Niklas Arrenhius set discus records at Mountain View High School and starred at BYU. He threw for Sweden because he has dual citizenship, and that is his father's native country.
Niklas had three chances to throw the discus as far as possible. His goal was to make it to the final round, but he was unsuccessful.
"In order to qualify, I had to throw 62-50, I've done that twice this year, so it's not like I can't do it," he said.
Niklas' father was also an Olympian for Sweden. He said he talked to his dad and family before the event, and they all told him to just do his best.
Niklas and his wife live in Orem and are expecting their first child soon.
