PROVO, Utah (AP) -- Several towns in Utah County are considering placing restrictions on pit bulls to stop the dogs from attacking people.

Provo and Orem city officials are studying the issue and considering new ordinances. A proposal on the issue in Mapleton could be voted on by that city's council within a month.

Springville already has strict regulations for pit bull owners.

Orem city manager Jim Reams says no decisions have been made about what that town's ordinance might include.
