CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) -- Nine Utah counties will share a $2 million agricultural grant to protect the state's grasslands from wildfires.
Lt. Gov. Gary Herbert announced the grant Thursday at the annual Utah Rural Summit at Southern Utah University. The money will fund 10 projects aimed at preventing damage caused by fire-prone cheatgrass.
The money will be shared by Beaver, Box Elder, Duchesne, Kane, Millard, Salt Lake, Sevier, Utah and Washington counties.
