Local college football teams are working hard in fall camp as the countdown to the first game of the season continues. College football teams must go through four practices before they can put on pads, and Thursday was the day for the BYU Cougars.
More than 500 people blew off work to attend the only open practice of BYU's camp. The team can't wait to put on pads as Wednesday's practice ended early because players got too chippy.
Max Hall and the rest of the Cougars feel good about their progress five practices in. "Everyone kind of wanted to go live today and start hitting. I think we'll scrimmage on Saturday. It was an exciting day, good on both sides of the ball," Hall told KSL.
Head Coach Bronco Mendenhall said, "We were able to get more plays, more work done. I was impressed with the day."
"I think we are right on track," Hall said. "We have a good football team. I think the defense is better than everybody thought they were and the offense is right there."
