Utah's sex offender registry is growing, and it's not because there are more sex offenders. People who have been convicted of kidnapping are ending up on the registry, too.

The registry is now called the Sex and Kidnap Offender registry. It now includes people who have been convicted of kidnapping, aggravated kidnapping, unlawful detention and voyeurism.

Members of the Utah Sentencing Commission are trying to figure out if they like it. Some are questioning whether somebody who might wind up with an unlawful detention charge should be on there.

One lawmaker told the Deseret News he thinks it's appropriate to have people accused of kidnapping on the list, because, he says, anyone that kidnaps is obviously not a safe person.

Parents who kidnap apparently get a pass from the list.
