PROVO, Utah (AP) -- Utah County prosecutors are nearing a plea agreement with a woman accused of embezzling some $240,000 from the town of Genola.
Traci Wright is charged with 13 counts of misusing city money, 13 counts of forgery and one count of theft. She has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Wright was Genola's clerk for 12 years.
Defense attorney Michael Petro says the proposed deal would require Wright to pay up to $104,000 in restitution up front. If she pays off the balance during a designated time frame, prosecutors would reduce the charges to misdemeanors.
Petros says he expects Wright to be sentenced to probation.
Deputy Utah County Attorney Ryan Peters says he's waiting for more input from his office before completing a deal.
A hearing is set for Aug. 19.
