SALT LAKE CITY — A gas leak at 700 South and 700 East caused some nearby businesses and homes to evacuate, and part of the street was blocked, officials said.
All of the houses along 700 South between 700 East and Windsor Street were evacuated, according to the Salt Lake City Fire Department.
A construction crew accidentally hit a gas pipe in front of Domino's Pizza, Jasen Asay with the Salt Lake City Fire Department said.
The crew stopped what it was doing and called 911. The fire department monitored the situation and felt it was necessary to make the evacuations, Asay said.
The gas leak was stopped before 5 p.m. The fire department reported that Questar planned to monitor and lift the evacuations at the appropriate time.
No injuries have been reported.
