Political name-calling has reached new depths in the race for governor.
Dell Schanze called thousands of voters daily with his message that Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. is an "anti-Christ socialist." The Salt Lake Tribune reports "Super Dell" is using an auto-dial message to reach 2,500 voters a day. Schanze toned down a revised version of the ad, which no longer includes the term. But Schanze maintains that Huntsman's religious beliefs are falsely portrayed.
The message also said Huntsman is suppressing technology that allows vehicles to run on water.
Schanze told The Tribune that supporters set up the auto-dial call; he just recorded the message.
A spokeswoman for Huntsman declined to address Schanze's statement. She says the governor plans to continue to work on the important issues for the state.
Schanze is running against Huntsman in this year's election for governor. So is Democrat Bob Springmeyer. Schanze also takes a shot at him. Schanze claims Springmeyer told him in a phone call that he doesn't care about the constitution. Springmeyer says he does.
