THE GREAT WHITE NORTH — O, Canada — the home and native land of long and snowy winters — has jumped on the bandwagon of trendy 100-years-of-beauty videos.
I would be surprised if you haven't seen at least one version of the 100-years-of-something-or-other videos, but let's refresh our collective memory. There are videos showing the (at least) 100-year progression of toys, hairstyles, uniforms and much, much more. These videos are a fun and interesting way to get a little taste of history.
This particular video shows 100 years of beauty, but with a unique Canadian twist. It stars Susan Kent, the star of a Canadian comedy called "This Hour Has 22 Minutes." This should probably clue you in to the fact that this video isn't 100 percent serious. It's a delightfully light and self-deprecating spoof, like only our neighbors to the north can be.
All you need to know before watching is that Canada is still setting snowfall records, like this one-day record set in Ottawa less than two weeks ago.
A special thanks to my Canadian cousin who brought this gem to my attention.
