(KSL News) The Polynesian community today honored the late Utah Sen. Ed Mayne.
The Polynesian Youth Group performed a traditional Samoan ceremony representing unity in remembrance of the support Mayne gave them. Organizers said this was a way for them to give something back to Mayne and his family.
Mayne's widow, Karen Mayne, said, "We as a family, and I especially am delighted they would honor my husband in this way."
Following the ceremony, the group presented a granite monument to Karen Mayne.
