(KSL News) He went on a crime spree after being mistakenly let out of the Salt Lake County Jail, and now Robert Preece will spend almost 20 years behind bars.
Preece pleaded guilty to charges of armed robbery, carjacking, brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Last September, Preece was accidentally freed due to a paperwork error. He then robbed several businesses and banks, committed a carjacking and left the state. He was arrested last November in Oregon.
The Deseret News reports Preece will be sentenced to 18 1/2 years in prison as part of a deal with prosecutors. He'll be officially sentenced in October.
