NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Titans have signed quarterback Alex Tanney from the Indianapolis Colts' practice squad and placed defensive tackle Mike Martin on injured reserve.
Tanney originally signed with the Titans for the final two games of the 2014 season and remained with the team through training camp this year. The Titans waived the former undrafted free agent from Monmouth at the end of the preseason.
The addition of Tanney provides quarterback depth as the Titans prepare to play Sunday without Marcus Mariota, who has a sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee.
The Titans also added quarterback Bryn Renner and wide receiver Gavin Lutman to the practice squad. They released quarterback Mike Kafka and wide receiver Rico Richardson from the practice squad.
Tennessee hosts the Houston Texans on Sunday.
