LOGAN, Utah (AP) -- Analog television signals will be eliminated in Cache County on Aug. 30, meaning only those with cable television or a digital converter will be able to watch TV.
Television stations across the country are required by the federal government to broadcast entirely in digital by February 2009. But Cache County is making the switch earlier to prevent any interference when Franklin County makes the transition in September.
Residents whose televisions are not equipped to receive digital signals will need to buy converter boxes. Coupons for the boxes worth $40 are available from the federal government. It takes about three weeks to get the coupons by mail.
