NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) — A California company set on building a futuristic, super high-speed transportation system says it will conduct early-phase testing in North Las Vegas. Hyperloop Technologies says it plans to begin testing on a half-mile track early next year. If the technology works, it could transport people and freight at speeds of up to 750 mph.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas police are looking for suspect in the killings of three people in an apartment near downtown yesterday. Police describe the victims as a man, a woman and a transgendered person dressed as a woman. Police say drug paraphernalia was found in the apartment.

ELKO, Nev. (AP) — An Elko County judge has declared a mistrial after the prosecutor said more investigation was needed into a fatal crash that killed an 18-year-old and injured two other young men two years ago. The Elko Daily Free Press reports that the defendant, Asay Crofts, was behind the wheel when the car crashed.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A small electrical fire at the Forum Shops next to the Caesars Palace hotel-casino has been traced back to the holiday decorations at the shopping mall on the Las Vegas Strip. The Clark County Fire Department said they found smoke and small flames about 2:30 this morning near the Ralph Lauren store. No injuries were reported.
