Alex Cabrero Reporting It seems lots of people are out looking for Destiny, even some who aren't "officially" looking for her.
With the three-day weekend, plenty of people are heading to the mountains to camp, and young Destiny Norton is on many of their minds.
If you haven't made reservations for a campground up Big Cottonwood Canyon for this weekend, forget about it. They're already packed full. But that's good news for the search for Destiny because it means plenty more people are out paying attention.
Gil Bernard has seen car after car after camper come to the Spruces Campground up Big Cottonwood Canyon. Most of them, he has to turn away.
Gil Bernard/ Campground Host: "We had a line this morning. They were waiting for spaces. It's first come, first serve. So the first ones to come in get it."
Tim Presnell and his wife Erica are among those lucky enough to get one of the 97 campsites. So is Glenda Brookfield and her friends.
But instead of just having fun this weekend, they're also paying attention to what's around them because out there, somewhere, just might be a missing 5-year old girl.
Julie Sabey/ Salt Lake City: "I think wherever you go, and you hear something like that, your eyes are open because you're always wondering."
It's been six days since Destiny Norton vanished from her Salt Lake City home, but it's the first weekend. And with so many people in campgrounds near Salt Lake, that means lots of potential searchers.
Erica Presnell/ Salt Lake City: "I told him we need to start looking. You know, they're saying she could be out and about, that this is where she might be."
Now police say they have no reason to believe young Destiny is up here in Big Cottonwood Canyon somewhere. But then again, you never know."
Glenda Brookfield/ Midvale: "We're going to go look around and call her and see if we can find her."
Because with the thousands and thousands of people out this weekend, it only takes one to find her.
Destiny is out there somewhere. But no one knows for sure where. That's why it's important to at least take a minute and look around wherever you are.
