SOUTH SALT LAKE — A man who suffered extensive third-degree burns in an auto shop fire last week has died, the South Salt Lake Fire Department said.

The man, whose name has not been released, died from his injuries Monday, said South Salt Lake Deputy Fire Chief Terry Addison.

The man was reportedly burned over most of his body Nov. 2 when a heater inside the shop at 166 E. 3825 South ignited fuel that spilled from the vehicle on which he was working. The vehicle was set up on an automotive lift at the time.

One other person was in the shop during the fire, and they were not injured, according to Addison.

The shop sustained between $20,000 and $25,000 in damage.
