(KSL News) -- Some of the volunteers searching for Destiny Norton know firsthand the heartbreak of a missing child.

Eraldo Soares, Lori Hacking's Dad: "The moment that I found out that another child was missing, that hit home, you know, right in my heart."

Volunteers, both well-known and not so well known, are helping look for Destiny. Many who showed up today have one thing in common: Children.

"I have kids, you know, I have a little girl."

"We have children and know that if it was mine, I would want everyone who could help me."

"Having children of my own and being a mother, I just want to do everything I can to help her get her mother back."

Other volunteers know all to well what it's like to have a child MSSING.

Ed Smart, Elizabeth Smart's Father: "The not-knowing is the worst part and having everyone out here brings so much hope to the family and you know you just want to find her."

Ed Smart, who was in the local and national spotlight during the search for his kidnapped daughter, Elizabeth. That search had a positive outcome.

The search for Lori Hacking took investigators to the county landfill where they found her body. As soon as Lori's father heard about Destiny, he was on a plane from Fullerton, California.

Eraldo Soares, Lori Hacking's Father: "Now I'm here again 2 years later and I'm going to beg the compassionate people of Utah to please come out and help us find Destiny."

Eraldo Soares says he won't go home until Destiny is found.

Two other families offering hope have spent days, even weeks, looking for lost sons.

Kevin Bardsley's son, Garrett, walked away from a scout camp in the Uintas almost 2 years ago. He has never been found.

Kevin Bardsley, Garrett Bardsley's Father: "When you lose a child it's a different world, completely a different world."

Bardsley, along with Toby Hawkins, organized the search in Emigration Canyon. Hawkins' son, Brennan, was found in a massive search.

Both Hawkin;s and Bardsley hope the expertise they gained searching for their sons, will help in looking for Destiny.
