SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - LDS Church-owned Deseret Book and privately owned Seagull Book and Tape will continue with business as they try to settle their differences, the companies announced.
Seagull will still be able to purchase Deseret's products through the end of August despite a dispute over how Seagull markets, merchandises and promotes Deseret items, the companies said in a joint statement.
Seagull is known for selling Mormon products at discounted prices. About 50 percent of Seagull's book selection and 30 percent of its audio selections are Deseret Book products.
Earlier this month, Jeff Simpson, Deseret Book executive vice president, said it would stop selling to Seagull. Deseret's line include works by nearly 140 authors writing on topics related to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The stoppage, which could cripple the privately held Seagull, was expected to go into effect at the end of this month, but Wednesday's announcement postponed it for 30 days.
The companies said they have begun discussions to address their differences.
