LEHI — What would you do if a big bowl of candy sat right in front of you and no one was around? A trick-or-treating princess took the whole thing and didn't realize she was caught on camera.

One Lehi family did what many others do on Halloween — left a bowl of treats on the front porch.

"We just had a little sign that said, 'Please take one,'" the homeowner explained.

However, just before 7 p.m., a girl in an unassuming princess costume approached with a plan of her own.

"I was surprised she was dressed up as a little princess instead of something untrustworthy like a burglar or a cat of something," the homeowner said.

Home surveillance video shows the girl walking up, taking a quick look around and plopping down on the front step.

"It looks like she's going to pick her favorite candy out. Nope, she just opens that up, dumps it in her sack and goes on her way," the homeowner said.

The princess made out like a bandit, took all the candy and threw it over her shoulder like Santa Claus.

"It was just kind of funny how she didn't even hesitate to get that whole thing," the homeowner said.

So, the homeowner posted the video on social media.

"We posted it on Facebook just because we thought it was funny," the homeowner said. "Turns out a lot of people are liking it."

This solo sugar-swiper already has more than 1,000 views, dozens of comments and a lot of shares.

"I mean, you can't really blame her. The lure of sweet candy on Halloween, right?" the homeowner said. "Dreams of sleeping on a pillowcase full of candy. Who wouldn't make the same choice?"

The homeowner said next year, he plans to add a sign and an arrow that tells trick-or-treaters they're on camera. That way, every child on the block can satisfy his or her sweet tooth.
