A man allegedly shot his estranged wife and took his son, Ryan, at a child custody exchange in California.
Police say the suspect, Lonnie Ramos, shot the woman with a 40 caliber handgun as she sat behind the wheel of her vehicle. The victim's friend and a 4-year-old girl were also in the car but were uninjured. The victim's friend drove to a nearby shopping center and called 911.
Ramos was seen with his son trying to buy plane tickets out of John Wayne Airport after the incident occurred. Ramos has family in Texas and Washington, D.C. Police say he may also have ties to Utah, although they haven't specified what those ties may be.
Ramos is possibly driving a Fleetwood Providence RV. Other vehicles he could be driving include a white 2004 Chevrolet Suburban, California license plate 5LTC712 or a red Porsche convertible with a black top, California license plate 4BWU827.
Ramos is 6 feet 3 inches tall, weighs about 180 pounds and has brown hair.
The boy, Ryan Ramos, is described as 9 years old, 4 feet 9 inches tall, 85 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
