PARK CITY — Kouri Richins is returning to court on Wednesday for the eighth day of her trial as prosecutors continue to call witnesses to make their case for aggravated murder.
The trial is starting later Wednesday than usual, at 9:30 a.m., and jurors were also told Tuesday that the trial will not be held on Friday.
On Tuesday, there was only one witness — a forensic accountant named Brooke Karrington who reviewed thousands of documents and testified about the debt Kouri Richins and her realty business, K Richins Realty, were in.
In October 2021, five months before Eric Richins died from a fentanyl overdose, many transactions didn't clear and Kouri Richins' account was often negative. Karrington said this continued getting worse through March when she purchased a large mansion, sending her even further into debt.
Kouri Richins, a Kamas mom and real estate agent, is accused of fatally poisoning her husband on March 4, 2022. She is also accused of slipping drugs into his food, making him sick, on Feb. 14, 2022.
