Fire crews are in Draper extinguished a field fire but not before it threatened homes.
Investigators don't know how the fire started, but they're definitely looking into the possibility it had something to do with fireworks. Homeowners here say they spotted juveniles in the area right around the time that the fire started.
The fire sparked just before 3:00 this afternoon at a wetland park located near 11700 South and 800 East. About three acres burned, and firefighters are just basically mopping up at this point.
Five homes were evacuated for about a half hour, and luckily no one was hurt. Firefighters are hoping to nail down a cause a little later tonight.
Meanwhile, Draper residents have told us this area is has burned before. They're frustrated because it's a lot of dry grass that they want cleared away, especially this time of year with the hot temperatures.
