SHOEVILLE — Professional and college athletes are just like the rest of us — they eat, sleep and love their jobs, and most of them love shoes, too.

Houston Rockets star James Harden took his love of shoes to another level in a recent video by sponsor Adidas.

Also this week: Northwestern added a basketball walk-on who brings instant cachet to the program — if for nothing else than his famous mother.

And a Minnesota high school football program has a unique coach.

Here's some of what we loved today in sports.

James Harden will never buy himself shoes again

The Houston Rockets star got into a lot of trouble over the summer when he signed a $200 million contract with Adidas and still wore his private Air Jordans to a public event.

But Harden may never have to worry about shoe-shopping again, thanks to the German shoe brand.

The shoe company delivered a moving truck filled with shoes to the NBA star's residence Thursday. Yes, you read that right: a moving truck.

The wait is over. Welcome to the family, @JHarden13. #teamadidashttps://t.co/KiyrNQrKyN — adidas Basketball (@adidasHoops) October 1, 2015

We think Harden likes his new #swag, too.

Mom's favorite walk-on ======================

College basketball opens practices in the upcoming week, and Northwestern introduced a few of the walk-ons ahead of the first practice.

Walk-ons? Why?

One particular non-scholarship player has a certain connection to pop culture and early '90s television that might grab a few headlines.

Welcome to new @NUMensBball walk-on Charlie Hall. Yada, yada, yada…you might know his mother. http://t.co/S6qLrNTEprpic.twitter.com/ks0XE8hmdp — Nick Brilowski (@NickBrilowski) September 30, 2015

Charlie Hall, a Los Angeles native, is the son of Brad Hall and Julia Louis-Dreyfuss.

Yes, that's right; Elaine from "Seinfeld" has a college-aged son who will suit up for the Wildcats sometime in the next four years, barring injury or other circumstances.

An All-CIF talent, Hall prepped at Crossroads School, which is known for producing sports talent Baron Davis — and perhaps more importantly, Hollywood elites like Jack Black, Jonah Hill and Zooey Deschanel, among others.

We're not sure walk-ons get special walk-out music treatment. But if they do, the video board at Northwestern's Welsh-Ryan Arena should just show the following clip every time he enters the court.

Minnesota football coach is 'nun' of your business

The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota, had an impressive football team coming back this year, returning most of its squad from a 10-1 season a year ago.

This year, the school is getting more publicity — but for one of its sideline personas.

Sister Lisa Mauer was a football coach long before she took her vows and became a nun. But she couldn't give up the gridiron in her blood. She now coaches the kickers at St. Scholastica, which started a football program around the same time she began working at the Catholic school.

"I'm there, not to be an expert in kicking, but to be another set of eyes and another support for the kickers in particular and for the team as a whole," Sister Mauer told local station WDIO in Minnesota.

Here's CBS Evening News on Sister Mauer's unique career path.

Now batting, No. 52 … Princess Elsa ===================================

The Chicago Cubs swept the Cincinnati Reds during a three-game road trip this past week, but the Cubs' rookies weren't finished with some important team business before the flight home.

The rookies were made to dress up in costumes for the Cubs' flight homes, outfits that included Elsa from Disney's "Frozen," Belle from "Beauty and the Beast," and Dorothy from "The Wizard of Oz."

Since Chicago is riding a five-game win streak and looks headed for the playoffs in one week, it's safe to say the rookies probably enjoyed their fashionable strut after the road trip.
