SALT LAKE CITY — Police are searching for a suspect in an aggravated bank robbery who was tracked to the Eccles Broadcast Center on the University of Utah campus Thursday evening.

Police identified the person in question as 30-year-old Curtis Crosby.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Crosby entered the US Bank at 2243 E. 2100 South and indicated he had explosives, Salt Lake police said. He demanded money from the teller, who complied, and the suspect fled. He was later believed to be on the University of Utah campus near the broadcast center.

Crosby is described as a dark-haired, white male wearing a straw hat, fake mustache and beard. His attire consisted of a black shirt with a tan vest, blue jeans and a fanny pack. Crosby is described as having a slim build, is 6 feet tall, and has brown hair and eyes.

Officials lifted campus restrictions to students on site once they had reason to believe Crosby was no longer on campus, although an investigative presence remained. The hospitals on campus were on 'restricted access,' according to the University.

Authorities temporarily asked students to avoid the area of the EBC, which is located on the north end of campus off of Wasatch Drive, just south of the University of Utah Hospital.

Police consider Crosby dangerous and anyone who encounters him is advised not to approach him.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Salt Lake police at 801-799-300 or University police at 801-585-COPS.
