Victim in fatal accident on Mountain View Corridor identified

WEST JORDAN — One person died in a car accident on the Mountain View Corridor Friday, officials said.

One other person was transported to the hospital after the crash, which took place at about 11:50 a.m. near 9000 South on the Mountain View Corridor, according to investigators.

The northbound, eastbound and westbound lanes are closed as a result of the accident, UDOT reported. The eastbound and westbound closures were still in place as of 4 p.m.

Police are still investigating the cause of the accident, but an official from the West Jordan Fire Department said it appears a mini-van and a BMW convertible collided in the intersection.

The driver of the convertible, Michael Burkman, 56, of Herriman, was killed in the accident, according to officials. They said the 34-year-old driver of the mini-van sustained minor injuries.
