WEST VALLEY CITY (AP) -- A Utah paraplegic who had his wheelchair stolen over the weekend got a new one today.
It's all thanks to Intermountain Healthcare.
Authorities say 33-year-old Joseph Wingett of St. George had his wheelchair of 18 years stolen from a Murray hotel he was staying at last weekend.
Wingett almost relies exclusively on his wheelchair for getting around, and was told it could take up to six months to get a new one -- if at all.
So, the staff at Intermountain Healthcare decided to step in and donate a new customized wheelchair.
Wingett was given his new chair -- worth nearly 35-hundred dollars today.
Meanwhile, police are still investigating the theft.
