Marc Giauque reportingViolence in Lebanon and Israel is hitting particularly close to home for some Utahns.

Former Salt Lake City Mayor Dee Dee Corradini grew up in Lebanon and is sick about what's happening there now.

"The Lebanese people have been through a fifteen year civil war and want to live in peace," says former Salt Lake Mayor Dee Dee Corradini.

"To have Israelis bomb and close down the Beirut Airport is awful," adds Corradini.

Corradini says Hezbollah, blamed for recent violence, including the kidnapping of two Israeli soldiers, is only a small part of Lebanon. She says it's a complex, but a modern society. She says someone of a major stature from the U.S. has to get involved in order to stop things from escalating.
