OREM — A previous contestant on "The Voice" recently walked away from the CVX Live YouTube convention as the "Next Big YouTuber."

Madilyn Paige, 18, submitted the video of her first single, "Irreplaceable," to the "Next Big YouTuber" contest and ended up winning a new camera, a microphone and a cruise, she said.

"It's something that is a big deal for me, because I've just been really recently wanting to get more into … the whole YouTube part of things," Paige said.

Each participant in the "Next Big YouTuber" was required to submit a video they had created.

"I decided to submit my 'Irreplaceable' video, because I felt that it best represented the way I want to come across and kind of like my image," Paige said.

The video, which has more than 121,000 views, sustained 50 percent of its winning votes from fans, family and friends, and the other 50 percent from judges.

"Basically, their goal is to make you the next big YouTuber," Paige said. "So with that is ... getting to make a lot of connections with the big YouTubers, and getting to collaborate with some of them."

Paige enjoyed meeting some of the YouTubers she admires at the local YouTube conference, including Peter Hollens and Bored Shorts.

Peter Hollens told her that you don't need to be signed to a big record label to be successful, Paige said, adding that she thought the advice was cool, because many people do believe they need to be signed if they are going to go down that road, but they can become successful on their own if they work really hard.

Paige is currently trying to be more consistent in posting YouTube videos and is working on her songwriting.

The singer put out an EP in February, but eventually, she'd like to put out an album.

The recent high school graduate plans to focus on her music for the time being and likely attend Utah Valley University next year.

In the future, she hopes to frequently get into the studio, keep making videos, and eventually, go on tour.
