HOOD RIVER, Ore. — Lila May Schow was just 2 years old when she was diagnosed with cancer.
But the cancer treatments against her neuroblastoma aren't working and doctors said just last week that she only has months to live, according to KOIN 6 News. So Lila's parents, Heidi Hall and Ryan Schow, decided to throw her an epic birthday party to include everything she was going to miss.
Everything for the party, from dresses to decorations, was donated by local business owners and residents who didn't even know Lila.
Lila arrived via horse-drawn carriage and was escorted by police, wearing a donated Cinderella dress, The Oregonian reported. A cheering crowd greeted the little princess, who was escorted into the party by her dad and step-dad, Blake Hall. A local bank was transformed into a castle for a night and included Disney princesses, face-painting, balloons, a DJ and a banquet.
She had her first dance with her dad and then her step-dad danced with her. At the end, Blake Hall dropped to one knee and asked Lila to marry him, to which she enthusiastically accepted.
The party had over 1,000 attendees, including people who drove in from California, Idaho and Utah, Hall told KOIN 6 News. Lila told her dad Schow that her favorite part was the carriage ride and their dance together.
Hall said she was overwhelmed by the support that came together so quickly.
"It's deeply touching to see how everyone responded," she told KOIN. "Thanks is not enough."
