HEBER CITY — Two teenagers were arrested Wednesday after police say they caused more than $50,000 in damage in a vandalism and theft spree at the Wasatch County Events Center.

Caden J. Sampson, 18, and an unidentified 15-year-old boy were apprehended a few hours after employees at the center arrived at work to find the building trashed, said Heber City police officer Xela Thomas.

"Their walls were spray painted, computer equipment was damaged, wires were destroyed," Thomas said. "Lot and lots of the county property (was) destroyed, vandalized or stolen."

Some doors and walls, in addition to a safe, were also found damaged. Thomas said the boys were identified by using the center's surveillance system.

Sampson was booked into Wasatch County Jail and the juvenile into a youth detention facility, both for investigation of burglary and criminal mischief.

Thomas said the alleged vandals are now being investigated in "numerous other cases" that are similar in nature. Heber City has seen an unusual number of burglaries for the past two months, she said, and some of them seem similar to the havoc wreaked at the events center.
