(KSL News) Utah troops got a special tribute today at Fort Douglas.
It was a welcome home event for members of the Utah National Guard who recently returned from Iraq and Afghanistan.
The event also allowed people to send e-mails to those still serving overseas.
One family said those e-mails were crucial in keeping a connection with loved ones stationed in Iraq. Pam Banta said, "It helps connect them and helps him see how the kids are growing while he's gone and helps them remember what he looks like."
There was also a concert tonight featuring several local performing groups.
