RENO, Nev. (AP) — Two children were killed when an SUV crashed through a house in Reno. A police spokesman says a 2-year-old boy and 4-year-old girl were inside the home when the SUV crashed through it and into the backyard. Police say the 66-year-old male driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries and is cooperating with investigators. The wreck remains under investigation.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A man who had faced the death penalty in the slaying of an off-duty Las Vegas police officer in November 2009 has pleaded guilty in exchange for life without parole. The Clark County District Attorney's office confirms that 24-year-old Prentice Marshall pleaded guilty to eight felonies including murder and robbery for his role in the shooting death of 30-year-old Trevor Nettleton at the officer's North Las Vegas home. Marshall is expected to be formally sentenced in August.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A 36-year-old driver who wasn't wearing his seatbelt died Saturday in a single-car rollover crash in rural Lincoln County. Nevada Highway Patrol says Joseph Bowlen of North Las Vegas was thrown from his 2000 Dodge Intrepid and pronounced dead at the scene.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Air tankers and helicopters are helping hundreds of firefighters battle a wildfire south of Lake Tahoe. No structures have been damaged but the California mountain town of Markleeville remains on standby for possible evacuations. A Sierra Front fire spokeswoman says about 500 personnel are expected to be on the fire lines about 20 miles west of the Nevada border. The fire has burned nearly 15 square miles of timber and grass.
