JURASSIC PARK — Whenever an animal is featured heavily in a movie, we humans tend to have stronger feelings about that animal, for good or ill.

When “Harry Potter” was in its heyday, readers and viewers all over the world wanted pet owls, and similar I-want-that-pet phenomena have occurred, from “Finding Nemo” to “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” and beyond.

Now that “Jurassic World” has broken box office records, taking in over $500 million worldwide on opening weekend, you may be wondering when you can get a velociraptor as a pet. (Or maybe you’re wondering when Chris Pratt will be your best friend or boyfriend; I don’t know you.)

While we wait for science to catch up with your new or refreshed desire for a dino pet, this video will help prepare you with what it’s like to live with a raptor. According to the makers of this sketch, it’s just like owning a cat — a big, scaly, noncuddly cat.

The video doesn’t address the fact that a velociraptor could and would eat you alive without any qualms, but we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. I’m sure we could figure out how to live in harmony; after all, even for humans, life finds a way.
