SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Robbie Findley scored in the 48th minute and assisted Javier Morales' goal 12 minutes later, leading Real Salt Lake to a 3-1 victory over the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday night.
Dema Kovalenko scored on a penalty kick in the 73rd minute to finish Real Salt Lake's scoring.
Real Salt Lake (3-5-2) ended its two-game losing streak and has a chance to keep moving up the Western Conference standings with three of its next four games at home.
John Cunliffe scored in the 84th minute for the Earthquakes (2-6-1), who failed to win consecutive games for the first time this season.
Findley, who came on as a substitute during the final minute of the first half, took a pass from Morales and blasted his shot from 23 yards out just inside the near post past Joe Cannon for his second goal of the season.
Morales' goal was also his second of the season and he has six assists. The Argentine nearly gave Salt Lake an early lead in the third minute following a handball by San Jose midfielder Ramiro Corrales in the penalty box. However, Cannon stopped Morales' penalty kick and kept the game scoreless.
Real earned its second penalty kick of the evening when San Jose defender Nick Garcia dragged down Andy Williams in the penalty box.
