POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — An eastern Idaho couple now have nine new puppies after they saved a pregnant dog that had been shot and left to die. Beth Stenberg saw the border collie lying in the grass on the side of Interstate 15 and realized it had been shot. The Idaho State Journal reports that two Idaho State Police troopers helped her take the dog to a veterinarian.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho Attorney General's Office says the two founders of the Idaho Aquarium in Boise mismanaged financial records and made deceptive requests for donations while accepting excessive salaries and benefits. Ammon Covino and Chris Conk received roughly $150,000 each in salaries, excluding thousands of dollars in benefits such as cellphone payments, gas, insurance and food.
COEUR d'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — A group in Coeur d'Alene has submitted a draft initiative to raise the city's minimum wage. The Coeur d'Alene Press reports that the initiative would require employers to pay employees at least $8.75 an hour beginning Jan. 1 and $10.25 the following year. The minimum wage is now $7.25.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Mormon church President Thomas S. Monson highlighted the Sunday session of the faith's biannual conference by announcing plans for three new temples in Africa, Southeast Asia and the Caribbean. He says the temples will be built in Bangkok, Thailand; Abidjan, Ivory Coast; and Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
