MOAB — A 31-year-old Colorado man was killed Saturday in an ATV accident in the White Wash Sand Dunes area of Grand County.
The Grand County Sheriff's Office identified the man Sunday as Jason Mondragon of Arvada, Colorado.
Grand County Sheriff Steven White said his office was notified of an ATV accident around 10:57 p.m. Saturday. Sheriff's deputies, search and rescue team members and Emergency Medical Services responded and discovered Mondragon had driven his ATV off 65-foot cliff, Grand County's official website stated.
"All we know is that he was with a group last night and decided to take a ride. and then once he didn't show up at a certain period of time — that's when they located him," White said. "And at that point, that's when they contacted our office."
Mondragon was found dead at the scene, the sheriff said, and emergency personnel recovered his body.
"Alcohol may be a factor in this," White said.
