KAMAS, Utah (AP) -- Call it a Memorial Day downer.
Cool temperatures, rain clouds and a still-melting snowpack kept most campgrounds closed along the Mirror Lake Highway in the western part of the Wasatch National Forest.
Just three of 17 campgrounds were open, leaving just 87 of 460 sites for campers who wanted to brave the cold.
Forest ranger Brenda Bushnell says all the open spots were filled.
Lingering snow at higher elevations made some campsites inaccessible. The melting snowpack had also pushed the Provo River over its banks, flooding parts of one campground.
