GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Caleb White scored 21 points with nine rebounds and East Carolina handed Central Florida 67-49 on Saturday.
East Carolina (10-13, 3-7 American) went on a 12-2 run in the first half — including 3-pointers on consecutive possessions by White and Terry Whisnant — and led 31-22 at intermission.
UCF got the deficit to six on Brandon Goodwin's layup almost six minutes into the second half, but the Pirates responded with a seven-point run and later extended the lead to 20 on White's 3-pointer with 2:20 left.
White was 9 of 13 from the floor as ECU shot 46 percent. Whisnant finished with 11 points. Michael Zangari and B.J. Tyson added 10 apiece.
UCF (9-13, 2-9) was led by Staphon Blair with 12 points and seven rebounds. Goodwin finished with 10 points and eight boards and B.J. Taylor had 10 points as well.
