(KSL News) -- Rescuers brought an injured hiker down from Aspen Grove in Utah County this morning. The rescue took all night.
The 40-year-old Salt Lake County man was hiking by himself yesterday, slid about 500 feet and landed on a rock at the edge of a waterfall.
Sgt. Tom Hodgson, Utah County Sheriff's Dept.: "Began yelling for help. Witnesses walked over to the area, couldn't reach him, yelled at him. He was injured."
The witnesses called 911. A helicopter went up but had no safe place to land because the man was on a cliff.
Medics hiked up to the man and moved him to a better location so the chopper could reach him. Authorities believe he has a broken leg and possibly internal injuries.
Witnesses say he was not hiking on the marked trail.
