(KSL News) Chris Cannon stayed alive, but some other incumbents lost their chance to run for re-election.

In Utah County, State Representative James Ferrin, out of Orem, lost to challenger Stephen Sandstrom. Sandstrom won 51 percent of the vote.

In Weber County, Senator Davis Thomas was beat out by Ogden's Police Chief Jon Greiner. Greiner grabbed 53 percent of the vote.

And in Kamas, incumbent Dave Ure was beat out by Kevin Van Tassel. Tassel took 55 percent of the vote.

All those races were between republicans.
