ELY, NV — The White Pine County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man wanted in connection with the murder of his wife and the arson of his home and business earlier this week.

Bruce Hendrix, 63, is described as armed and dangerous in the warrant notice. Hendrix is driving a brown two-toned 1998 Chevrolet truck with a camper shell with Nevada license plate 559SDZ.

Around 7 p.m. Monday, the White Pine County Sheriff's Office received a call informing them that a home had gone up in flames. Upon arrival, they found Bruce's wife Julia Hendrix, 57, dead in a bedroom. Julia Hendrix had been shot once in the chest. According to the sheriff's office, Bruce then poured accelerants throughout the home and lit it on fire. Neighbors said they saw Bruce leave in his truck just before the fire.

According the sheriff's office, Hendrix then drove to his business where he worked as an accountant, broke the windows and set the building on fire.

White Pine County Sheriff Dan Watts has known Hendrix for 27 years. He said Hendrix has no criminal history and there were no reports of abuse in the home. He never expected Hendrix to do this.

"Shocked," Watts said. "My family saw him and his family this weekend and it didn't appear anything to be wrong. Shock and disbelief."

Sheriff Watts said Julia Hendrix filed for divorce just days before her death.

Hendrix is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 225 pounds. Officials advise that if you see Hendrix, do not approach him. Call 911 and report his location.
